The books close through one person
What is missing
Accounts is three desks and the close runs through one of them. The collection-cycle target for the year and the cash marker both read from work that person does.
What it stops
- The company stops lending its customers money it has already spent
- The one-year collection-cycle marker
When one desk is the path for the close, the cycle cannot be shortened by trying harder — it is bounded by that desk's hours. A target that asks for a shorter cycle without changing who does the work is asking for the same hours to produce a different number.
What would close it
Decide whether the answer is a second desk or less work — chasing done by the system rather than by a person is the same relief and cheaper. This is an observation about capacity; it proposes nothing about the Finance module.
What it is worth
Pointing at the collection cycle, and unpriced here: the cycle's own figure rests on the company's claim until the ledger is read in full, and a figure built on a claim is not a figure to put money against.
Read from Employee master spreadsheet supplied by the company · Tally — Read from the org chart and the closing record. How much of that desk's day is the close, and how much is work a system could take, is a conversation this pass has not had.
Accepting this tells Ramesh (Accounts) at the same moment you are told, in their own terms. Nothing they are measured on moves unless they agree to it.
