India — There is no employee body here, so there is nothing to clear
India — no works council, no consultation body. The employee layer unlocks with each department's release.
The document Corto produces for them
Written by the software from its own settings, so it is the same every time and can never quietly go out of date. In the United States and Singapore the same text is what employees are told.
Every piece of information Corto holds about a person
15 pieces of information, each one named, with where it came from and how long it is kept. This list is produced by the software itself rather than written by a salesperson, so it can never say something the product does not actually do.

What is only ever shown as a total, never as one person's answer
Anything a person said about how they feel — in the one-to-one conversation, or in a check-in. Answers are only ever shown once at least 2 people are in the group, so no answer can be traced back to one person.
What is never used in a performance review
Nothing a person said about how they feel is ever used to rate or appraise them — for anyone, including the founder. This is the single sentence most employee bodies exist to get in writing, and in Illinois and California it is also what keeps the company on the right side of the law.
Who sees what, and in what order
A person always sees their own information before their manager does, and a department head sees their own department before the founder does.
When Corto is allowed to interrupt someone
Nothing is ever sent between 9pm and 7am. If somebody ignores the same item three times, Corto stops showing it rather than nagging. For this company, notifications that wake a phone are allowed.
Getting your data out, and deleting it
This works exactly the same whether the company is paying us or not.
How Corto's calculations actually work
In Spain, employees have a legal right to be told this. Every goal Corto drafts names the finding it came from and the records behind that finding, and the checks it was tested against are listed too. If anyone asks how a number was arrived at, there is a full trail to show them.
What they asked us to change, and what we changed
Every one of these is a setting. None of them needed the software to be rewritten.
- Smallest group whose answers can be shown together2
- Question topics they asked us not to asknone
- Notifications that wake a phoneallowed
- Which departments this coversevery unit
- When this agreement gets looked at againnone set
The most common single request is to raise the group size, so that no answer can be traced back to one person. If they ask us to drop a whole topic, the final report says which part is missing rather than pretending it is complete. If the agreement only covers some departments, Corto shows that clearly instead of treating the rest as missing data.
If they refuse
Everything about the company still works. Only the parts that involve individual employees are switched off.
The report, the founder interview, the business plan and the department targets all carry on — none of them involve an individual employee. What switches off is anything that speaks to one named person: the short details form, the one-to-one conversation, personal goals and the daily updates. Four sections of the final business review then say plainly that they are missing, and why, rather than guessing at them.
Language
One language per company. Corto never mixes two languages inside the same record.
Employee layer ships in EN — fine.
